Taylors and Co Second Model Schofield Features
Designed by Major George Schofield to be operated with one hand while on horseback, a break-open pistol was ideal for mounted soldiers in the U.S. Cavalry. Shooters could easily eject all six spent cartridges and reload while on horseback. The top break pistol also proved useful to the likes of Jesse James and Wild Bill Hickok. The Schofield barrel latch opens by pulling it back with the thumb and includes the rear sight notch. This model features a forged steel blued frame, blued finish with various case hardened parts, and a two-piece walnut grip.
Taylor’s hand gun line are replicas copying the original designs, but built with today’s high quality standards in mind. The Schofield model was designed to be operated with one hand while on horseback making it ideal for soldiers in the U.S. Cavalry. The break-open pistol’s barrel latch opens by pulling it back and has a rear sight notch incorporated into it. This .44-40 model has a 7″ barrel, blued metal finish, walnut grip, and a fixed blade front sight.
